Finding Strength Through Support
Rose’s story began in the shadows of family violence. Her daughter, Charlotte, was born into a home marked by fear and instability. Determined to protect her child, Rose made the brave decision to separate from her partner. But the road ahead was complex. With Child Protection involved and legal systems in place, Rose initially had support – but once the case closed, she was left to navigate the challenges alone.
Living two hours from family and raising Charlotte as a single mum, Rose faced escalating behavioural challenges rooted in trauma. Charlotte had missed vital health checks and struggled with severe anxiety, making everyday tasks like leaving the house or travelling by car nearly impossible.
In a moment of desperation, Rose reached out to The Orange Door and was referred to the Caroline Chisholm Society. What followed was a comprehensive, wraparound support model tailored to Rose and Charlotte’s unique needs.
Caroline Chisholm Society provided:
- Home visits, crucial for a family unable to leave the house
- Parenting support, including a one-on-one Circle of Security program
- Telehealth check-ins, allowing Rose to participate while working full-time
- Childcare assistance, from touring centres to securing subsidies
- Legal, financial, and family violence referrals, easing the burden of navigating complex systems
Even after the formal service period ended, we continued to check in, ensuring Rose and Charlotte remained on track. Today, Charlotte attends childcare, Rose is working, and together they face life’s challenges with resilience and hope.
Rose’s journey is a testament to the power of early intervention and personalised care.
At the Caroline Chisholm Society, we are proud to stand beside families like Rose’s – offering stability, compassion, and a path forward.
